Jean Littlejohn visit, May 2013


One of our recent Branch highlights was Jean Littlejohn's visit. Jean shared her extensive experience of stitch in the Friday talk, when she recounted her journey from art college to Co-President of the Guild, via Friends of the Titanic! Jean stressed the importance of observation and understanding what you want the stitching to do.

At the Saturday day school, we benefitted firsthand from her expertise and artist's eye.  

Jean is very generous in her encouragement of tentative stitchers and has boundless enthusiasm for the art and craft of all types of stitch.  Everyone went away with some very useful samples - Jean insisted that we finish at least one piece - and fired with enthusiasm to develop our hand stitching.

Young Embroiderers Group

Young Embroiderers meet on the first Saturday in the month (except August and December) at St Mary’s Church Centre, Leamington CV31 1JW from 11 am- 1.00 pm
Our activities include all kinds of textile-related activities such as hand and machine stitching, dyeing, printing, weaving, use of beads and other decorative items. We also use different kinds of materials such as paper and waste materials as well as fabrics and threads.
We have made bags, cushions and wall hangings as well as cards and gifts for special occasions. 
Sometimes we enter competitions and take part in exhibitions. 
The ages of our Young members range from 8 to 17.
Girls and boys are all welcome to join us.
