Can Holmes - "Stitch Stories"

Cas Holmes is well known to many makers and stitchers through her popular books, The Found Object in Textile Art, Connected Cloth (co-authored with Anne Kelly) and more recently, Stitch Stories.
We are fortunate in being able to welcome Cas on Friday 3rd June to give us a talk entitled (of course!) "Stitch Stories".

Cas trained in fine arts and enhanced her understanding of paper and related media through study in Japan.  She continues to develop her techniques, and drawing and use of colour remain the foundation of all her work.  Cas explores the relationship between the urban world and nature, decay and renewal, and the natural cycle of growth.  Fragments of salvaged materials are layered and re-assembled, marking the passage of time, and her pieces draw their inspiration from 'hidden' or 'overlooked' observations of daily life.  "Everything has a connection", she says.

Visitors are always welcome to come along to talks.
For details of times and venue, please see 'About our Branch ... How to find us' .
